Wonderful Cebu Blog Author To Join Photowalk for the First Time

Thadz Engaling, yours truly and author behind the Wonderful Cebu Blog, will be joining my very first photowalk in downtown Lilo-an town on Saturday, October 3. The invitation was through Herbert Kikoy, the walk leader, who is my fellow member at the Cebu Blogging Community.  The photowalk was organized as part of the 8th annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk.

What is a Photowalk

A photowalk is an act of walking with a camera with the main purpose of taking photos of anything that the photographer may find interesting. Often, it is a communal activity organized by photography or camera clubs, online forums, or commercial organizations. It is usually done as a walking tour. Photowalks are a social photography event where photographers get together, usually in the downtown area, to walk around, shoot photos, and get to know other photographers while having fun. An aim of photowalking is the improvement of one's photography skills and focus is on things of interest.

The Lilo-an Downtown Photowalk

Photowalkers joining the Lilo-an Downtown Photowalk will meet up at the Lilo-an Plaza fronting the town hall. They will then roam the town of Lilo-an to explore the sights and sounds of the town while taking pictures of anything that interests them. The potential photowalk route will go through the Lilo-an public market, the San Fernando Rey Parish Church, the Lilo-an Seaside, the Lilo-an Bridge, and the Parola (lighthouse).

The 8th Annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk

This year's Scott Kelby Photowalk has currently organized 646 photowalks in different parts of the world and 8,825 registered walkers as of this posting. To join the annual social photography event, one may find a photowalk in a city where he or she resides. On the day of the event, walk with the group for 2 hours and take photos of things that interest you. You are also encouraged to donate $1 to the Springs of Hope orphanage in Kenya. As an alternative, you may choose to buy the official apparel for the 2015 photowalk event. 100% of the proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Springs of Hope Orphanage.

After the photowalk, you may enter the contest for best image and win prizes. This is not required however. Should you want to share your photos, you may upload them at the official Flickr for the Worldwide Photowalk. This is also not mandatory.
