Best Northern Spots in Cebu

Cebu is truly a gateway to a thousand journeys. A thousand journeys could be taken within Cebu itself. This is why it is important to categorize what Cebu has to offer so that it can be easily digested and lessen the probability of information overload that can happen when we talk about Cebu and what it has to offer just spontaneously. In this post, we shall explore the best northern spots in Cebu. I scoured the blogosphere to find out what bloggers suggest as the best northern spots in Cebu. So read along.

One of the best northern spots in Cebu in terms of quiet and serene time on a beach is at Tabuelan's White Beach. Because it is remote, not too many people travel the distance from the city. But when you do take the effort to get there, the experience will truly be rewarding. Steph Senires provides a sneak peek of Tabuelan's White Beach.

Carnaza Island is the northernmost inhabited island in Cebu. It is part of the municipality of Daanbantayan. While it is not necessarily a popular destination for tourists, it is one of the best northern spots in Cebu in terms of a stress-free getaway and enjoying the island life. Most of the island is owned by former Cebu governor Emilio "Lito" OsmeƱa. In the summer of 2015, Brennan Mercado of Baktin Corporation organized a trip to Carnaza Island and what a pity I was stuck with work on the trip's schedule. Issa of Scribbling Neurons shares the story of that trip to Carnaza Island.

Malapascua

Malapascua Island should top the list of the best northern spots in Cebu among diving enthusiasts. Shipwrecks, shark habitats, and coral ecosystems around the island make it a prime diving destination. It's beaches do not disappoint either. And for those who just wish to take time off from the daily grind, the laid back atmosphere in this quiet fishing village sure aids in relaxation. The Pinay Solo Backpacker blogs about Malapascua Island.

Bantayan Island is popular among vacationers in Cebu specially during Holy Week. People are just drawn to the sugar-like, fine grain sand in its beaches. When talking about the best northern spots in Cebu, Bantayan Island takes the top spot in the white sand beaches category. Among its other attractions are a 400-year old church, a few caves, mangrove forests, and marine sanctuaries. Lakwatsero writes about Bantayan Island.

Gibitngil Island

In terms of an adventure trip, Gibitngil Island should be among the best northern spots in Cebu. Cliff diving is popular here. Adrenaline junkies will surely get their fix here. Here's a blog post about Gibitngil Island from Travelers' Couch.

Here's another island not many people head out too. But surely there are gems of nature at Kinatarcan Island, administered by the town of Santa Fe but not part of the Bantayan group of islands. Laaw Cove and Lagoon, Cantingting Cave, and Hagdan Beach are just of it's attractions.

Regular Kinatarcan Island visitor Pinoy Apache blogs about Kinatarcan Island at Istorya.net.
