Mountain-themed Day Tour of Cebu City

Cebu City is not all urban. There are parts of the city that is still mostly green. When you are in Cebu and want a change of scenery from the mostly urban hassles of city living, you may want to take a mountain-themed tour of Cebu City. This post is about a suggested itinerary.

JY Square Mall

Suggested starting point for this itinerary is at the JY Square Mall.

Lots of options here. Here are 3 of them:

Crate Cafe

Come here if you love coffee. Or when you imagine yourself sipping your morning cup of coffee in an outdoor table with Cebu's hills as backdrop. It prepares you for the adventure ahead. They open at 7 a.m. but are closed on Mondays.

Terrazas de Flores Cafe and Botanical Garden

If you wanna get right at it, Terrazas de Flores do not only offer your morning dose of coffee and breakfast but also a beautiful flower garden which kind of starts your day of several flower garden visits. They open at 7 a.m. all week.

Coffee, salads, desserts. You will feel at home at Dolce if you want those. They also open at 7 a.m. You may also want to skip this in the morning and visit it for after dinner dessert.

Sirao Flower Garden or Celosia Flower Farm

Starting from the farthest end of this itinerary takes one to the now famous Sirao Flower Garden. Also known as the Celosia Flower Garden and dubbed Cebu's Little Amsterdam. It's a flower garden with beautiful views. Take heed though if you are allergic to pollen.

One of the oldest places in this list. Tourists have been coming here for the great view overlooking urban Cebu. Best to be here at night so one can appreciate the city lights in the dark. Originally built as a helipad for the OsmeƱa political family, locals and tourists alike now frequent the Tops Lookout for fresh air and refreshing views. Entrance fee here is minimal. There are food stalls, barbecue grilling areas, and picnic areas.

Temple of Leah

Patterned after Greece's Parthenon, the Temple of Leah place is relatively new. Built as a tribute to the late Leah Adarna by her husband. Entrance fees are collected here.

Lantaw Restaurant Busay

For lunch, I suggest Lantaw Restaurant Busay. It is a stone's throw away from the Temple of Leah. This full service restaurant has a diverse menu focused on Filipino favorites. If you are feeling adventurous, try the eels. You can have it as soup or fried.

Mountain View Nature's Park

One can spend the afternoon at Mountain View Nature's Park. PhP 50 entrance per person. Suggested activities are swimming and the ropes course. Both have additional charges. Snacks may be ordered from the Fire Tree Nook Bar and Restaurant.

Cafe Marco

When you have the budget and you want a buffet, your best bet is dinner at Cafe Marco. This restaurant is located inside the Marco Polo Hotel. It has received rave reviews despite its prohibitive cost. That's some indication that you somehow get the value of what you pay for.

Hungry for steak? Anzani is one of the best places to get it in Cebu. Quite pricey. Yet they have good reviews.

Mr. B

For those with a modest budget, head to Mr. B. This place is quite a secret. It's not even on Google Maps. PhP 400 get's you a good meal for two, a private open air hut, and amazing views of the city at night.
